What is Jira Align

I'm not interested in Jira Align, per se, but I am having a lot of difficulty configuring Jira for cross-organizational use (consistent reporting, flexible but consistent project & issue types, easy security management across organization, etc). Things like report on all projects from this department versus that department; or group projects across departments if they are a certain type of corporate project, etc. So if Align is the way to do this, or if there are better approaches within the core product, I am very interested to hear. Thanks

Our company just bought it so any help would be great! Honestly I'm not sure we even need it lol.

Jira Align is AWFUL. You think it will be built similarly to Jira but instead the user interface is awful, the search is awful, making bulk changes are not possible in most cases. And even worse, it makes Jira a worse user experience too because of how it integrates you end up having to manage epics/features in 2 different systems. Just don’t do it. Execs like it because of the views they get, but the Product Managers, who are the most frequent users, suffer a huge amount of wasteful admin overhead and anger towards a crappy UI.
