HOW I DID IT! 👇🏼✨🙌🏻🤔
I got this Dixie dresser at a local estate sale for $100. 😅 I saw potential it it’s bones and the gorgeous walnut veneer… so I decided to take it home and try to flip it for profit!

Comment LIST if you want the full list of supplies used for this flip 👇🏼✨

Here’s the step by step 👇🏼✨
+ wiped down the outside with soap & water
+ removed all the dust from the inside of the piece
+ I sanded the top & drawer fronts with 120 grit
+ I applied some @3m painters tape & painted the built-in drawer pulls with a beautiful charcoal color from @fusionmineralpaint
+ sealed the sanded veneer with @minwax wipe on poly (oil based)
+ the sides of the dresser were in great shape, so I didn’t sand those. Instead, I applied a Moisturizing Wood Oil which revitalized the appearance of the veneer!
+ to the surfaces I did sand, I applied a wipe on oil based polyurethane to seal

What do you think?!?! How much do you think I can get for it?! Bc ya girl got student loans to pay! 😭👇🏼✨❤️😀

I think people get so upset about paint bc so often its done really carelessly without any thought to the craftsmanship of the original piece or the fact they aren’t made that way anymore so you’re essentially destroying a piece of history. But this really enhances the original without destroying or covering up what makes it really beautiful to a lot of people!

This flip furniture gig is a real job. You have a good eye for design.

Woodworker here. Natual wood (Teak, walnut, oak, and rosewood) always wins and will bring more money, especially from MCM purists and collectors. Paint is last ditch if there is damage and difficult to repair.

$125, 000 would have furnished an incredible wood shop.

All of the well known stores who have similar items are priced at $900.

Price: depends on your location. In Florida, not much, less than 500 ( still profit ) but California of NY WITH right connections, thousands. Why not try connect with local Decorators, several of them. Make a web page and when you finish a piece, post pictures WITH dimensions. They would love it because it’s “one of a kind” or EXCLUSIVE. Good luck and MAKE MONEY!!

For once, the paint was the way to go! It really elevated the piece! Great job 👏🏻

I love it! I just hope you wore PPE when sanding. When we refinished the chipped plaster walls around our front door dust got literally everywhere. Thankfully, it didn't get through the N95s, but it got in our ears, our hair, our clothes. Ugh. Took forever to dust the walls down after that lol.

I like how the paint made the panels pop out like that. Super cool.

I actually LOVE the charcol paint accents. It's giving a little industrial/woodland style feel and I'm here for it!!

Depending on where you are selling and how quickly you want to turn it over. I have a friend who sells antiques and he uses the philosophy that he takes less for payment but sells more because of his lower prices. “Get it out of here!” Is what he always says. lol. So yes you could try selling it for $1000 but I think you might sell it faster if you asked $400. I think you could also get more if you had a set you sell. Like if you found a similar high boy and or bedside tables and styled the same with the paint detail! Ohheee that would be awesome!

I love what you’ve done!

Not lazy!!!! Very chic, and I would list it for more than you actually want and take off money every few days so people think they are getting it for a deal.

What I want to know is what career did you go to school for that cost you $125k and are your even pursuing that career path anymore?

That looks beautiful. The bit of colour makes the timber stain pop.

No clue about resale. Depends on your area market. Maybe $400 🤷‍♀️
I am curious if you could answer this question: I see a lot of furniture flippers use Bondo instead of just wood putty. What is the rationale behind that? my husband said it’s really hard to work with, it smells really bad, and he says you shouldn’t use it on furniture, but he’s never flipped furniture before. Any insight about that?
