NEW YORK, July 25, 2024 — Xi Jinping presided over the Third Plenum of the 20th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party on July 15-18, 2024. Following the meeting, the Party issued a “decision” document that will guide policymaking in China for years to come. In this webinar, hosted by the Asia Society Policy Institute’s Center for China Analysis (CCA), CCA experts Guoguang Wu, Bert Hofman, and Lizzi C. Lee share their reactions to the “decision” and other outcomes of the Third Plenum and what it tells us about Xi Jinping’s plan for the country. CCA Fellow Neil Thomas moderates the discussion. "Chinese Modernization" = modernization of the Chinese socio-economy for socialist objectives.

But it seems there is nothing for Western neoliberalists, thus for them, nothing much is going on, no “reforms” ... old samo samo … “nothing to see here” ...
“Hegemon hysteria aside, the fact is the Chinese economy will grow by a whopping $1.7 trillion only in 2024. That is more than in all but the last three years – because of the Covid effect.
And Beijing borrowed exactly zero yuan for this growth. The U.S. economy, by comparison, may grow by $300 billion in 2024; but Washington had to borrow $3.3 trillion for that to happen" (P Escobar).
