I believe that God wants unity but also discernment. The unity of God the Father, Jesus Christ the son, and the Holy Spirit in his family of followers through discernment.

Look forward to purchasing and reading Bonhoeffer as I have already read much about him and hope to learn more. I agree with Eric about John MacArthur. It’s sort of love/ hate with him. I love his biblical knowledge. I have and utilize his study bible. I love his zeal for the Lord and his courage to boldly speak out on controversial issues. However I hate his bigotry towards Catholics and other denominations that he deems theologically incorrect. Does he think all Catholics before the reformation are in hell? Some of the most godly and bravest Christians to ever live were Catholics… and Pentecostals! That’s where Francis comes from when speaking on unity. Perfect theology will not get us into heaven. Loving Jesus Christ with all our heart, soul and mind and loving others as ourselves was the command given to us. Great interview!

Might want to do a bit of research on "Mystery Babylon" religion...find out what the book of Revelation is referencing. Worth some searching. Glad for unity of the body, but sound doctrine will lead us to unity. Oneness of the faith of Messiah...now that brings unity...lets all keep search the scriptures for the truth of Our Heavenly Father's word...iron sharpens iron...definitely discernment from the Holy Spirit is needed...thanks for encouraging unity among the brotherhood

Interesting, you bring Francis Chan onto your show to talk about the importance of the unity of believers. And then, instead of examining yourself and talking about how you might improve yourself in this area, you use it to point out others who aren't in unity with you. You were engaging in the opposite of what your guest was there to represent. When we find another of God's truths, it only works when we apply it directly to ourself.

You sound as bad as me. God never sent his son years later to die on a cross. Pilate put him on a cross. He sent him to show the way to be born again. What must I do to be saved. Be baptized with fire and with water. Do not make God this person that sent someone to suffer injustice. Injustice saves no one. That's unforgiveness if he needed a sacrifice

Self appointed arbiters of theological correctness? Consider reading 2 Tim 2:15. And I feel bad for those Berean "arbiters of theological correctness" in Acts 17:11.

Pharisaical spirit? The Pharisees had poor theology and tried to usurp Christ with man made legalism and a twisting of scripture. How did Jesus correct them? He points them back to a right interpretation of scripture (truth). You're trying to link Pharisaism to sound doctrine (when they are actually polar opposites)

The Roman Catholic church still upholds Council of Trent, Sixth Session, Canon 9, saying that they declare an anathema (a curse) amongst anyone who says that a sinner is justified by faith alone. That's called a false gospel.

Regarding Unity, it's true that God wants his people to be unified. But there are scriptural qualifiers for this unity (CAPS letters for emphasis):

- 1 Cor 1:10 "...but that you be united IN THE SAME MIND and same judgment"

- 1 Pet 3:8 "Finally, all of you, HAVE UNITY OF MIND, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. "

- Phil 2:2 "Complete my joy by BEING OF THE SAME MIND, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.

It would seem to me that when there is unity, there is also a direct correlation to being of the same mind. Minds that are transformed and aligned to the Word of God (Rom 12:2), regenerated by the Holy Spirit. So if there is disunity in the church, maybe a good question to ask is "how is your bible doctrine and application of it"?

Sorry Mr. Metaxas, but Jesus said that his kingdom is not of this world (which includes the USA). Donald Trump is not the USA Messiah. The USA is under God's judgment. Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, mainstream media and the Democrats are immoral and reprehensible, but they are also being permitted to do what they do by God as means to implement judgment on a nation. He's used evil leaders to chastise a nation in the past (eg: Babylonians in Habukkuk, King Hezekiah who ruled Judah), and he will do the same again.

The only thing that will stop the current downward trajectory of the USA is a godly sorrow leading to national repentance and a nation seeking after Christ as their Lord and Savior. In the meantime, God will uphold and keep his remnant people.

Unity in this day and age usually means ecumenical, which Francis Chan is. Discernment again Eric. You seem to have just about anyone on your program.
