SPOILER WARNING
This song contains spoilers up to the current arc of Campaign 2 (around episode 114). Really should have thought to do this earlier and even put a warning at the start of the video, but better late than never.

Lyrics

Don't you fear, for a comin' are the heroes
Don't you fear for your life
Don't you fear for a comin' are the Nein
To defend our home from the comin' blight
(repeat after every verse)

Sailor born from a curse and a blessing
Sailor born of the tides
Rebel shunned by her daddy as a child
Didn't know she was leaving for brighter skies

Healer raised in the heart of a graveyard
Healer born in the grove
Sapphire left her mama back at home
Going out to discover what adventure holds

Sinner forged in the heat of a hellfire
Sinner born in the flame
Champion freed from the binding of her chains
When the storm rolls in you'll know her name

Mother torn from her child by the river
Mother born after death
A King whose eyes never shut when he left
Now returns as a menace to his friends bereft

Boy that fell for forbidden knowledge
Boy that fell for the light
Boy that strayed but his heart set him right
And found his family in the Mighty Nein

Molly's title being "king" ended up being weirdly appropriate.

The Molly part is just *chef's kiss*.

At the first one shot of The Mighty Nein before a live audience this should play as they come onto the stage. Each one walking in on their verse.

Imagine someday in the end of the campaing, Mercer goes and and say: As you enter the tavern to rest you hear from an improvised stage, a bard making a simple beat, and looking straigh to you as he sings: "Oohh ohhh Dont you fear ..."

This sounds like a song that'd echo through the world from really nowhere understood when the Nein return to the material plane as true legends and Folk Heroes.
They've done their quest, they've sorted out the City, and now they're coming to set things right.
"Don't you fear for a comin' are the heroes" oh people hiding from the Assembly
"Don't you fear for a coming' are the nein" oh people crushed by the world who just need a single hand to raise them up.

Honestly I think that this is the best part of C2. The Nein aren't legends, they aren't glorious fighters in an Epic Tale with Chapels to their name... they're Folk People, common rabble and bastard born who will only be sung about around campfires when a bit of intervention is needed.

I enjoy the way the music implies that we should indeed be very, very afraid in spite of what the lyrics are trying to tell us.

One thing I LOVE about this is how the lyrics of the chorus can be interpreted in two different ways.

Don’t you fear for your life. (A declarative statement. Reassuring as the heroes are coming)

Don’t you fear for your life? (A warning question for those who stand in the way of the Nein)

Hats off to you folks!!!

That one dislike is Lucien who's scared shitless of the Nein

I have this weird feeling that this is the type of song which would just echo, sourceless around the streets of the Astral City as the Nein arrive.

this has serious "chain gang" vibes and I'm living for it

When I first saw the background I was like "aww too bad molly isn't there" then at the end "aw crap Molly's there..."

I love this, the notes at the end in Molly and Nott/Veth’s verse make the creepy factor skyrocket. And all the verses are so good!

Just watched E140 and came to listen to this song immediately afterwards.
Beau: "We may be heroes that no one knows about.... but we know."
Yeah, we know. I hear this song less as a song sung about these heroes, but rather their own song of accepting their fate to face this blight, to accept the path of a reluctant hero. It's their song of redemption - their acceptance of who they were and gathering the confidence and courage to believe in themselves and face what's in front of them. This entire campaign has been this exact theme. I love it. Well played, Chase.

That drone that sneaks in adds just the right amount of "wait what, what's happening.."

oh. Oh. OH. *OH.*
I actually can't put into words how much I love this but hell I'm gonna try. The progression of the instrumentals in the background, from almost nonexistent to menacing and foreboding and so so so unsettling. The harmonies. The use of Molly's dirge during his section. *The use of Molly's dirge during his section.* You somehow managed to make each of the nein's verses vivid and atmospheric and intense even though they each got like, 2 sentences tops. The line "sinner forged in the heat of a hellfire". Your *voice.*
I think this might have overtaken 'what he keeps on his nightstand' as my favorite song you've written, killer job!
