I multiply by 6 because it is the smallest number that 2 and 3 can both divide into evenly. The goal is to get rid of the 2 and 3 in the denominators. When I multiply by 6, it will get rid of the 2 and 3 in the denominators which will make my equation much easier to solve. I could have used a larger number that 2 and 3 both divide evenly like 12 or 18 if I wanted, but it will be easier if I use the smallest number possible. That's why I used 6. I hope that makes sense.
