The main difference between the divisions is how many D1 guys does your roster have. In 2019 my school had at least four players who were D1 starters the issue is most of our team was D3 level and we only had 18 non goalies on the roster

The top tier D2/D3 programs absolutely have guys w the sticks to play D1, but the athleticism and speed of the game at top D1 programs is incomparable. They’re all freaks of nature.

My freshman year of college we scrimmaged Notre Dame. The fastest kid in our program was clearing up the sideline going full tilt. Their BACKUP LSM was running stride for w him while throwing checks lol. It’s an entirely different level even between low D1 and high D1.

None of the people in this comment section know a thing. I’ve played d2, I’ve played d1 and d3 guys. None of these LR players that are clipped actually play for them. Ranked teams regardless of division will compete. D1 is just more athletic. End of story

Lacrosse is one of those really odd sports where all the division two teams absolutely stink. And not only get ran over by D1 teams but D3 teams as well. Generally speaking a good D3 team can stick with a good D1 team.
