I think it'll take forever to get the remake pushed out.. i say play the OG trilogy. Especially on Steam Deck or handheld, it's perfection. Besides, there's a certain charm in the old game that will be lost in the remake. Also the fact that the story, if you're gonna talk to all NPC, is such a huge content, and the OG is the easiest to play.. Full 3D won't be as easy with getting those side contents or dialogues, I would assume.. - I mean I've replayed the game a few times already and still stoked for the remake, so I'm sure you'll get to it eventually.

i'll just say that Trails in the Sky FC is one of those games where if it gets its hooks in you, you wont mind playing it again.

I’m in the exact same situation as you. I recently set it all up on the steam deck, Japanese VO, analogue sensitivity and it was really charming. I only played a few hours up to the mining caves and decided this is gonna be my next big game.

Then the remake announces and like you I’m torn! On the one hand there’s a certain nostalgia I feel from this game even though I never played it when I was younger. The music, the dialogue, the world building and the godamn charm!

After a few days to think on it I think I’ll go ahead and play the original just to feel that connection to the past and when I finish the remake I’ll be more than happy to continue playing SC while waiting for that remake - fingers crossed. Whatever you do will be the right choice!

This is GREAT! They pretty much sold the biggest issue people had with the series the entry point. I usually always say that it isn't a huge deal if you need older hardware for some games or run them through a emulator or get a PC or laptop but yes, this port makes the series even more accessible what is great.

I just hope they do the remake port on all platforms, so far it was announced only on the Switch and that's in my opinion a huge mistake because many people also play on PS4/PS5 and of course on PC (even though on PC there is at least the original game fully functional and playable).

Also FYI the translation they are using for this remake is the XSEED one from the original games from over 20 years ago. So I suspect that XSEED and Falcom are working together again to bring this game to the west, this will also make things much easier because the biggest work the translation is already done! So we might see day 1 release worldwide in 2025! The first Trails game that could release worldwide simultaneously.

These are great news for us JRPG fans and I hope this will being even more people into this amazing PEAK franchise. ❤🔥👏🏻

If you really want to play the entire series, I think Its best to play the OG games. Falcom is a small company and Its going to take a while to remake the trilogy while also developing new games at the same time.

Plus we also dont know if they will remake the other 2 games. Because falcom have said that it all depends on how well the first game sells. It really all depends if you can wait or not.

I would absolutely just wait for the remakes at this point. Sky FC holds up fine but there are some dated elements that I think hold it back a little bit. A lot of people will be tuning into the series for the first time so I think just for that collective experience it would be more fun to just wait till the remake!

I mean if you wait for remake of only the first game you would continue the games as the OG so for me I'd day 2025 is far away play the OG trilogy and replay remake
