Really, it's a silly question. SF answered it well and here it is in a nut shell pt A&B
A) GOD SAYS TO. HE'S GOD AND YOUR NOT!
B) OUR LORD JESUS DID IT AND SO SHOULD YOU.

Jesus interceding for us doesn't equate to us needing to intercede. He intercedes on our behalf. He came for that purpose. He's the only intercessor we ever need.
In the New Covenant there's a complete shift from what happened in the Old Covenant.
For example:
Acts 17
24 The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands.
25 He isn’t worshipped by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath and all things.

Prayer for the New Covenant born-again child of God is a subconscious act, not an act arising out of compulsion or diktat. It becomes the very nature of the believer.

The purpose of Prayer..is to get You..in line with God. We are Here to do "the Fathers Will." Not our own. And proper prayer..would be Seeking Jesus..and then SHUT UP and LISTEN!

So the Father decreed us to pray for something to happen that He already decreed? SMH
