Used to fly via AMS and its a great airport for traveling. This video has a few misses. First Netherlands is in Schengen and many people outside Amsterdam will go to other countries to fly such as Brussels. Next as part of KLM is their partnership with Delta airlines. Delta has turned Amsterdam into a massive hub and has flights to Amsterdam throughout the US. Given its geography Amsterdam is a great connecting airport for North American travelers going to Europe, Africa, and even certain parts of Asia.

This sounds like an AI trying to construct a script.

Many aspects are missing.... it has very good train connection means that many people even from Belgium or Germany are going here to depart/arrive... Netherlands has a very well established international conference infrastructure. There are sometimes corporate conferences/trainings with hundreds of participants. The Netherlands is a very busy international business hub, many companies have European HQ here and business people travel a lot to here/ from here...

Saying that Paris only has 2M people is like counting only the population of central London

Fun Fact für Schiphol and KLM: The king of the netherland has a commercial pilot licence and he flies minimum twice a month as a copilot the keep his licence.
So when you are flying with KLM from or to schiphol there is a chance the king is in the cockpit. :-)

Nice video, but how about asking permission to use my videos in the background first?

What's also important is you can get a train from most of the country which terminate at the airport. You can't really do that in the UK.

Schipol and Paris are also used as transit airports by UK passengers from airports that are too close to London to have flights to London such as Cardiff, Bristol, Southampton and Norwich.

This video just repeats the same thing over and over in slightly different ways LOL 😅

It would have made more sense to compare London, Amsterdam and Paris population using the metropolitan region. It's not fair comparison due to administrative reasons for example, the Paris metropolitan region has a population of over 10 million

Amsterdam really serves the whole randstad region (and you can argue the whole country) since Schiphol has flights the other airports in NL doesn’t. Btw the randstad region is 9 million people and includes Rotterdam. It’s about the same land area as the London metro but has more farm land seperating the urban areas.

People in the Netherlands don't fly domestically. They take the train.

For me, Amsterdam is maybe the least interesting place in the Netherlands. It's beautiful but I really love other Dutch cities. I spent a week in Enschede earlier in the year and loved it. We went to Friesland too and it was beautiful. If I ever had to leave Australia (my home), I would definitely choose to live in the Netherlands.

Eindhoven airport has many low cost routes all across Europe, in addition, both Eindhoven and Rotterdam have charter flights during summer. Main reason for why AMS is so busy is many connections and transit passengers who don't even leave the airport

Nice video. Please do a similar video of why Dublin's airport services much more people that the total population of Ireland (at least, it has at some point processed upto 32m passengers) while greater Dublin is not upto 3m inhabitants and the Republic of Ireland is not upto 6m inhabitants

I fly KLM a lot and it always strikes me how many passengers are non-Dutch transit passengers.
Many Scandinavians travel within Europe with KLM over Schiphol airport
Same for British and East Europeans.
And obviously the inter continental travelers to literally ALL continents.
When a plane is delayed the crew always announces the transit passengers' connecting flights and gates. That's when I notice the diversity of passengers on board.

To be fair the Amsterdam metropolitan area (and in extension the whole Randstad which is at most 40 minutes away by train) has a lot more people living there together. People outside of Randstad generally drive a car instead of taking the train.

People tend to forget that Schiphol isn’t in the Amsterdam municipality, but it is still called Amsterdam airport. I live in the same municipality as Schiphol (Haarlemmermeer) and we don’t call ourself Amsterdam. In fact our municipality used to be under water.
