I was in London one summer night 95/96 in a dark club somewhere down Soho.. the club full with not a soul on the dancefloor.. I was already wasted and a new DJ started playing.. first tune he played was a tune I had just bought on vinyl and knew it instantly.. getting my head straight and finding my dancing shoes I was enchanted, every part of me floating to the empty dancefloor, I had to dance. ..on my own in front of the DJ booth and getting on down the DJ and I locked eyes and gave each other the thumbs up, he grabbed the booth lamp and shined it towards me.. I shouted back.. I love this tune.. it's the Garden of Love.. he gestures to me that it's his record I produced it!

The DJ was Dave Lee/Joey Negro..
As the tune played out i was finally joined by my girlfriend and mates, we had this thing where we would dance in a circle and one person would dance on their own in the centre, showing off their best moves for a minute before picking someone else from the circle.. then the pair would perform a routine together then leaving the chosen one on their own to dance for a minute before picking someone else and starting the game again. .Dave mixed into Think Positive.. a powerful uplifting piece of music... all of us were on top form and suddenly we were joined by loads of other clubbers who were loving Dave's music and wanted to be involved with the dance floor game...

I was lucky to have such a huge group of friends who had a very unique attitude towards dancing and we travelled the country to all the major dancefloor venues and made sure we had dance off fun with the locals. .

But the real and lasting luck was individuals like Dave who for me have pioneered, created and maintained a standard and style of music that still now hypnotizes my mind body and soul, his music unlike other scenes has a timeless essence of lyrical meaning melodic flair...

I spoke to Dave that night and tried my hardest to blag some of his vinyl from him, of course I had no chance but he did me the favour of writing down his play list. . I never saw him live again for decades until I arrived in ibiza in 2015 and he was playing at some daytime pool party, his set was brilliant and ive tried to find it and download it hundreds of times without luck..

Dave I bet years ago when you started, Djing, record repping and producing that you never realized how important your own interests and actions would be in creating a massive loyal world audience and a lasting legacy not just in music but for the unseen like the bringing together of all creeds and cultures in a place of mutual happiness. .
You are certainly now a national treasure and probably a planetary legend. .
