Many species coexist in nature, but when is coexistence not an option? Here, I take a semi-deep dive into the competitive exclusion principle, a fundamental concept in community ecology. Enjoy!

Just found this video and I'm blown away that you have so few subscribers! This is excellent quality content both in info and presentation. Thank you!

I'm writing this before checking if you have more videos... Fingers crossed!

I don't comment often, but a video quality this high doesn't deserve an empty comment section.
Since I'm here I might as well offer feedback:
I have nothing to complain about the visuals, but the audio could probably a bit better: its nothing dramatic, as an audiophile I'm just nitpicky: It seems like the low-mid frequencies (~500Hz) are overpowering the highs a bit, which makes some sibilants harder to hear. Not sure if the mic is responsible by boosting the low-mids or if some audio processing is reducing the highs (aggressive noise suppression tends to muffle them, especially if the recording has reverb in it).

I don't have anything to say on the topic of the video, but I enjoyed the concise presentation of a concept from a field I never heard about before.

Do keep in mind this principle isn’t nearly as cut and dry as often assumed, especially at the level of entire taxonomic groups. A lot of supposed cases in the fossil record of two clades competing to the point one is outcompeted to extinction fail to hold up under closer scrutiny (often, the timeline doesn’t make sense, the supposed advantages of the “more competitive” group are suspect or even made up, or both).
