Here is how I add hanger bolts to table legs during the assembly process.

Here is my process for installing the hanger bolts in the table, legs for the current table I am building. One of the keys is making something that will hold your table legs so that you can drill into the corner of it and get a good alignment on your bolts. I made a small jig with some 45° cut pieces of plywood that would hold the table leg properly. Then I had a drilling guide that I put on top of the corner.

Once you get your holes drilled, you need to drive the hanger bolt into the hole. The easiest way I found to do this is by using an impact driver or drill. You need to add a nut followed by a washer onto the hanger bolt. Then add a lock washer, followed by another flat washer and finally a nut. This will allow you to use the socket to drive the bolt into the table leg.

You can use some wrenches or crescent wrenches to remove the nuts and washers when you have it installed to the right depth.

Thank you, I have been searching for a way to use a threaded insert with hanger bolt to stop it from changing over time as I need it to stay aligned once set up. Any ideas? How do you do it? Shelley

I don’t know if you’re gonna see this but I need to borrow your brain. OK my aunt gave me the most beautiful double pedestal table & I lost the lag bolt or lag screw. it goes all the way from the base of the table through the column and then the tabletop kind of sits over it. There’s two holes under the table too, so this is a really large fastener or screw, it’s about 25 inches long 3/4 of an inch to 1 inch round, the hole. and I was wondering what type of screw fastener should I use? My wife’s gonna kill me it’s like a $8000 table just beautiful. I don’t know what I did with them there are 2 Too too. It’s a single hole in the middle and it runs from the base all the way up to the table when you look at the back of the table there’s two holes and it looks like it goes all the way up. Does anyone have any ideas? What I could use? to replace the fasteners hardware on a double pedestal table single drill hole straight through the middle of the base column and it looks like you screw it in the table sits right where the bolts would go I’m going crazy. I’m sorry if that didn’t make sense. If anybody has what I could use if there’s something I could use that would be better. I know I have been any help would be greatly appreciated.
