Toyota ANNOUNCED NEW EV Coming in 2025
By 2025, Toyota hopes to produce more than 10,000 EVs each month.
Toyota might reveal its intentions to establish an EV assembly plant in Kentucky, USA.
By 2025, the company hopes to sell a million electric vehicles worldwide.
Toyota has a long history of producing hybrid automobiles and investing cautiously in completely electric vehicles (EVs). Even as the global car industry changes to a battery-powered future, the Japanese automaker made little to no headway on its aim to build electric vehicles until 2021.
Toyota ultimately unveiled an EV strategy in April 2021, with a target of 15 new battery EVs (BEVs) by 2025.
One of the biggest manufacturers in the world, Toyota, updated their EV strategy by December 2021 and shared its plans to invest 4 trillion yen (US$35 billion) to provide a complete portfolio of 30 battery-powered EVs by 2030. By the end of the decade, it hopes to raise annual global battery EV sales by 3.5 million units. The target represented a 75% increase over the two-million-dollar original target.
But those goals were established while Akio Toyoda was the CEO of Toyota. The business announced in January that Toyoda would resign as president and chief executive and take on the role of chairman beginning on April 1. Koji Sato, the company's chief branding officer, would be in charge of running Japan's largest automaker. One of Sato's first tasks was promising to "dramatically" alter the company's EV approach.
When investors, environmentalists, and EV aficionados condemned Toyota for slipping behind in the international EV competition, Sato made his decision. He therefore wants to hasten the introduction of new EVs in order to transform the biggest automaker in the world into a mobility firm.
As Sato succeeds Akio Toyoda as CEO on April 1, he indicated he will prioritise a three-pronged strategy. Priorities will include strengthening the automaker's Woven-related software-first efforts, stepping up its EV drive, and concentrating on achieving carbon neutrality in Asia. A one-size-fits-all approach does not, in my opinion, work, Sato told Automotive News.
He pointed out that established rivals like General Motors and Volkswagen, rather than rising rivalry from US and Chinese start-ups, are driving the newfound interest in electric vehicles. Rethinking Toyota's ambitions for its electric battery products is Sato's top priority. "The first is a reform of business, beginning with next-generation BEV.
We must streamline the design of the vehicle and adopt a BEV-first mentality in order to deliver appealing BEVs to more customers, he said.
