Vietnam Huey Helicopter UH-1 25th Infantry Division

Restored UH-1H Huey.

I was medevac in one of those Huey’s from the 25th Infantry Division in 1969 after being wounded a second time Vietnam. It has been 50 years and it is hard to believe.

Robert m I was a combat solider of the Vietnam war with 1st air Calvary (6768) the huey is still in my blood 53 years now there's nothing like the sound of her firing up every wear we flew we brought hell in hand basket, the Vietnamese called us aliens, we came out of the heavens, it was a welcoming sound to be picked up, the pilots were the very best .thank you gentleman for your service.

The Florida Forest Service flies Hueys to fight wild fires, and when I went to work for them more than 10 years ago and I found out that they had this aircraft I commented to my boss that that particular helicopter had a very distinctive sound that that for this old 25th Infantry soldier it was a good one. Some time later, that same boss arranged for me to get a front seat ride in our Huey out of the airport in Okeechobee where it is stationed. Just a log flight, but a front seat ride, as my normal seat was in the very back of the open side door on the left hand side.... Good video, brings back good memories...

I love the sound of the Huey, The bad thing is the only time I'll see one if it's going to fight a bush fire in summer, Oh and if you get to see the movie "Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan" one of the Huey's in the film flew in the Battle. All the best for Australia.
