There's a wild theory floating around that Metal Sonic will make an appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but not as an active character yet. The idea is that Metal Sonic and Agent Stone could later form an evil duo, especially if Jim Carrey’s Robotnik is written off or dies by the end of the third movie. People are wondering how Metal Sonic will fit into the story. My take? What if Robotnik starts building Metal Sonic early in the movie, but never finishes him? Maybe he gets distracted when Agent Stone discovers Shadow, leaving Metal Sonic unfinished. This way, Metal Sonic’s introduction wouldn’t derail the main plot. The payoff could come in a post-credit scene: Robotnik dies, and a heartbroken Stone, while going through Robotnik's old projects, finds and finishes Metal Sonic. This could set up a new villain duo, with Stone and Metal Sonic continuing Robotnik's legacy. Their dynamic could even be like an "evil" version of Tom and Sonic’s father-son relationship. Metal could stay silent like in the games, while Stone does the talking. What do you think?

I like the original creation of metal where Eggman uses Sonic's DNA to create metal Sonic's consciousness, and oh what do we have here Eggman makes a deal with Sonic to help him with shadow in exchange for one of his quills, so it would make sense to me if what happens is he uses the DNA from the quill to start the creation of metal during the movie in secret while he's helping Sonic take care of shadow, then after they save the day Eggman turns on Sonic and releases metal and captures shadow, possibly to use his chaos energy as a power source,

Edit: I'm very nervous about his inclusion cuz he is my favorite character, I would prefer they keep him the way he is in the games but knowing movie eggman's theme, metals probably going to end up being white and red with like a bunch of black stripes or something, I'm kind of worried it's not going to look good but I'm gonna hope it looks cool

So I could accidentally predict the plot. I made my own fanfiction where I made Sonic firstly meet Amy and Shadow. Agent Stone as Eggman is inaccessible, decides to take on his Legacy and becomes Eggman 2.0, and uses Metal-Sonic. Yet I introduced Metal-Sonic to make Team Sonic fight him once, and then Shadow destroys it with 6 shots, and Tails and Spider-Man (I forgot to mention that I made also Marvel Fanfic that happen in the same timeline) use scraps of Metal-Sonic to make nanotech armour for Sonic.

I agree, and more to the point, I think that fighting Metal Sonic would plant the seed for Sonic’s dark side to develop, growing over time and making his stance as the hero weaken. It would also make the need for Amy or Sally even greater for when Sonic does go Dark.

No, this is what I think it will be the Sonic movie 4 plot: Eggman kidnaps a princess to control a time god named Solaris and Sonic saves her a bunch, Shadow is copied by half of that god and tries to stop them, Silver and Blaze (don’t question why she’s here, it’s complicated) live in a future that is wrecked by another half of that same god and go to the future to try and fix things and kill the creature, Blaze “dies” and Sonic dies for reals, and every playable character (minus Blaze) has to go get Chaos Emeralds to revive Sonic and take down Solaris (who has fused back with his halves), both Sonic, Shadow, and Silver turn Super and kill him, resetting the events of the game so they never happened and Silver’s timeline is safe. Doctor Eggman kidnaps Princess Elise of Soleanna in the hopes of harnessing the Flames of Disaster, a destructive power sealed inside her. Aided by his friends' Tails and Knuckles, Sonic works to rescue Elise from Eggman. The hedgehog is accompanied by new friend Amy Rose, but she is soon captured by a new Metal Sonic who takes her to the oddly metallic Little Planet. It's down to Sonic to thwart Doctor Robotnik's new plan, fight off Metal Sonic, find the seven Time Stones, and rescue Amy. Rouge the Bat is a government agent serving under the President of the United Federation and Station Square. Recruited into the Guardian Units of Nations (GUN) after being transported from Sonic's home world, she also works closely with Topaz, another agent of the president.
