Blood and Cheese, The murder of Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen as his mother watched on was supposed to be one of the biggest impacting plot twists in the Dance Of The Dragons, and thus House Of The Dragon. So why were so many fans disappointed with the shows take on the event. Was it really that bad? or are there other reasons that only become clear in the context of the whole season.

Normally i record audio in the dead of night, but had to do it with him in the room with this one. he chose that moment to play with his ball.

So well said all around! The issue with the writing is that they have made it too clear which side they think is "good" vs "bad". And they are writing character motivations to match scenes/ actions they want later, rather than having the character's motivations drive the scenes. It's all backwards so no one feels like a consistent character.

This is exactly what i was thinking when i was watching it aswell.
No maelor changes blood and cheese but also future moments aswell, especially helaenas death since its his death that makes her commit suicide.

The show also drastically downplayed Blood's punishment after he was caught. The book has him being tortured for days in the worst ways imaginable until he died of pain, while the show just has Aegon hit him a couple times.

They didn’t show Daemon green lighting ANY son if they couldn’t get to Aemond, but it was VERY clear by the look on his face when they asked him about that possibility that he was fine with it.

I agree that jaehaerys’s death didn’t seem to have impacted anyone long-term, which is very strange, to say the least.

The show didn't downplay Daemon's role. It leaves his direct culpability ambiguous. But Daemon could have easily hired more competent assassins like the Faceless Men. Or he could have attempted to kill Aemond himself. He knows the secret passages in the Red Keep better than anyone.

The finale where Rhaenyra talks about a son for a son to Alicent makes no sense, especially after Blood and Cheese. If you think parents are protective, well grandparents are 100 times more protective. If Alicent was written like a real person, she would have killed Rhaenyra with her bare hands after what happened to her grandson. Instead she is willing to give up Aemond, the same son she stabbed Rhaenyra in season one because Lucerys took Aemond's eye. Now she is ready to throw her whole family under the bus? Who is writing this garbage? None of it is based in reality.

The thing is you don’t lose the Sophia’s choice, a Sophia‘s choice is a decision made with the outcome of both choices, not being desirable. You still get that, and the OG Sophia’s choice is between her son or daughter being gassed in a concentration camp. The problem with blood and cheese is they aren’t assassins with a good plan, there just bumbling around the castle. The reason why blood and cheese is frightening is because you’re in the point of view of Helena not blood and cheese

I think the show wanted more scenes between us Alicent and Rhanera. Thats why they've been changed Alicent's arch from being vengeful over the murder of her grandson.

I find it weird as hell that people cared more about a dog being kicked than a child being murdered. You can’t even use the excuse that the audience didn’t get much time with the children before B&C happened, especially when you realize that we had NO earlier scenes with the dog. I don’t have to personally know a child to be horrified by that child being brutally murdered. WTF is wrong with people?

maelor being cut definitely impacted b&c, but damn, they could’ve taken another road, instead of watching the assassins walking around the red keep to complete their task and aegon getting drunk with his friends, we should’ve seen aegon, helaena and their kids bond and while they are together have aegon and helaena have a conversation, then they leave and b&c happens, that would’ve added sm tension because the audience doesn’t know if they will get to aemond or will accidentally cross with helaena and her kids, it would also added a mistery to these men, we didn’t need to see their perspective imo.

another thing, alicent having s*x with crispin makes me so mad, and i believe wholeheartedly that they didn’t include her on it because that would’ve affected her relationship with rhaenyra, yes, alicent was still horrified and sad abt what happened, but it just doesn’t hit the same if she was in the room witnessing the murder, logically speaking, in the sept scene, alicent would’ve ratted rhaenyra out and she would never have gone to dragonstone to give up on her sons, and i think the writers know that, so that’s why they chose to remove her from the scene, because it’s more easy to keep the unfixable friendship between them (even tho in the show she still has a reason to hate rhaenyra).

also, if lucery’s death is the chain that makes the door unable be opened for a peace deal, jaehaery’s death is the padlock that seals that peace forever, and their death’s are forgotten and don’t hunt the narrative as they should.
