There are so many Dream SMP scenarios I can think of with this song:
1. Ghlatt and Ghostbur singing this in the afterlife when they get bored.
2. SBI singing at a campfire together.
3. Techno just singing this to himself in general.
4. Dream singing this in the cell with Tommy and Tommy joining in because it's at least a bit calming.

I can imagine every citizen of L'manburg singing this sitting in the mess and ruins of once a peaceful country and the war had just finished and dream, techno, george and everyone else just stand outside of L'manburg listening and watching them sing this

Your at the beach it's midnight you can't see anything suddenly the moon reveals an old pirate ship with people singing it reaches out to you. You walk towards it as it reaches closer to the land, the captain walks down to you welcoming you aboard the ship you feel at home with them. Sadly you wake up from the dream ever since then you've longed to that same feeling, sometimes you even hear them singing at night calling you to them waiting for you to come home.

I just imagine Phil used to sing this to the SBI boys when they were younger because it was one of his favorites and now they all sing it in their separate lives. Like, Techno sings it fairly often while working and Ranboo overhears enough to learn it over time and eventually sing with him in a wholesome mentor-protagonist duet. Wilbur used to sing it in the war days, so he taught Fundy, who still hums it sometimes. Ghostbur sings it in whatever strange hell he's in, and Glatt joins in but only when he's been drinking, which just happens to be always. Tommy hates it, but secretly he loves it, so he hums it and when hes stressed or doing chores or something he sings it without realizing, and one day Tubbo asked about it and Tommy reluctantly taught him, and then they did work together singing it and it was cute?? And now, for bonus points, Tubbo comes home one day and Ranboo is singing it to their son and hes just like??? how do you know that song??? where did you learn this??? and so sometimes people can just bond over their SBI connections because they recognize the song.

Short writing:
An old sailor leans back on his rocking chair, looking out across the water. He reminisces of his days on the waves. His crew was full of joy and were like a family that he never had. One day after making a spice run, the boat ran into a horrible storm that threw people off board and drowned most of the rest. All except him. Washed up on shore, he mourned the loss of his home and the family he loved.
(End of flashback)
He starts humming. "As far as I've heard..." The stars shined brightly above him as he mourned once more. And when he reached the chorus, he could almost hear them singing with him once again.
"We'll take our leave and go!"
He looks up, eyes full of tears, and smiles as if they had just returned back to him.
