Let's Be Honest.. The Suzuki RM-Z450 Can Be Amazing!

The Suzuki RM-Z450 gets a lot of hate, as it's arguably the most dated model in the class and has been unchanged for a handful of years now. However, with just a few modifications the 2025 Suzuki RM-Z450 is highly favored by Swapmoto Live's very own Alex Ray. We built up our yellow machine and had Alex explain what he loves so much about the RM-Z450.

It just had the red plate. Looks great, plenty fast, throw a KYB Shock on it like this one and it's a hell of a bike.

Mate a high compression piston & ECU to that pipe, along with race fuel, and you'll be flying. Great bike. Ditch the shock for a KYB.

I snagged mine for 5.6k dealer special and it is solid as a rock. No toil filter and exhaust for me

There is something satisfying when you kickstart a bike, I don't hate electric start, but I always prefer kickstart

Kenny's bike with the red plate IMO was one of the best looking bikes I've seen in a long time, I love the yellow up front with black side plates and rear fender. I have my 2023 KTM SX-F 350 set up like '24 Factory AEO Powersports from SKDA....orange up front, black in the back! LOL

Love my Rmz. It does not have a snap my Yamaha did but it is smooth and has plenty of stomp.

Some detail in the review on the mods you made would have been nice, especially the suspension changes. Is the fork still all Showa inside or what? Just running KYB decals on the fork because you can? Not everyone knows that the RMZ250 KYB shock is the way to go on the rear could talk more about that and what year range it comes off of.

With the exception of the first RMZ 250, I'd just always had bad experiences on them and from watching SX all my life, I'd always felt like it was a step down in careers for riders (yes I know some top names have won on them) so I stick with Honda, for better or worse. To me they are the Mitsubishi of the dirt bike world. They used to make decent stuff, but since they stopped, I definitely don't want to be apart of a brand that is on its way out

Things are funny..last few years everybody talked about how the rmz was and old bike..didn't perform..always in last place in the shootouts.. everybody mocked because of the Kick start..it's the cheapest One..outdated..Bla Bla..😂😂..this year is the same bike of last year..but the opinion Change??!!??!!🤔🤔🤔 People are funny..GO KENNY!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂
