In this video, we are counting down the top 10 facts about the Boston Terrier that you might not know.

A Quick Overview:
Group: Companion Dogs
Weight: 10 to 25 pounds
Height: 12 to 15 inches tall at the shoulder
Life Expectancy: 13 to 15 years

The Boston Terrier may have been bred to be a ferocious pit-fighter, but you'd never know it today. The little American Gentleman, as he was called in the 19th century, is definitely a lover, not a fighter, although males have been known to show their terrier ancestry with a bit of posturing when they feel their territory is being invaded by another dog.

Boston Terriers are known for being very intelligent — sometimes too much so. Their lively, affectionate nature makes them extremely loveable, though their sometimes stubborn nature or spurts of hyperactivity can land them in hot water with their owners. Any angst about their behavior, however, soon melts when they look up at you with those huge, round eyes that seem to say "I love you."

Although Boston Terriers are small, they're sturdy and muscular. They have a sleek, shiny, straight coat with crisp white markings in a pattern that resembles a tuxedo — part of the reason they gained the name American Gentleman. Boston Terriers' distinctive ears naturally stand erect and are quite large. And then there's those big, beautiful eyes that are set quite apart to add to their outstanding good looks.

Love Bostons ❤️ I have owned three. They are funny, loving, playful, very intelligent, eager to please, great snuggles, and easy upkeep. The only health issue I have had is in my first, Gabby, she had a kneecap slip that required surgery. When she was 12, she congested heart failure and died in my arms. My second was Zoey. She was a babydoll, spoiled rotten, and loved like nothing else. Towards the end of her life, she had seizures that were controlled at first with medication, then later the medicine strength had to be increased, then she began having the seizures almost hourly. This took a lot out of her, and our vet said there wasn't anything else to help her. I held her as the vet gave her meds to put her to sleep. My current is Lyla. She is 3 years old and full of piss and vinegar! She thinks she is a Rottweiler and patrols our backyard, making sure everyone knows she is there. She follows my hubby around when he mow the lawn and is not afraid of the electric mower at all, so now she has to stay inside when he mows. She is a delight to have in our family. We believe a house isn't a home unless a Boston Terrier lives there ❤

My husband snd I have our 4th BT since 1981. We love the breed. This one weighs a whopping 36 lbs of all muscle, not an ounce of fat! The other 3 all died in their 13th year of life.❤

We had a gorgeous Boston Terrier male and a rescued female (looked pretty rough from a serious incident with a vehicle as a pup). When walking them one day, some boys asked if my male was a pit bull.🙄 He was big for the breed (about 30lbs) but still....
One day they got out of their yard and were missing a few days. I was terrified that some idiot would try to fight my loving dogs. Luckily, the signs out little girl and I put up got us a call and we were able to get them back. I couldn't believe they survived in the Ga summer heat...and the traffic they decided to cross.
