The Abode Wide Beam Canal and River Boat

Beautiful Beautiful. Very nice. In American waters you would need a engine to push against a 3 knot tide with a 1 to 2 foot sea or wake or chop, plus 10 to 20 knots of cross wind. This would be nice to build in the States.
Maybe a second hidden outboard to help with the wide rough sections of the east coast of America. Then glide with the tides? Tide Glide! I would love to build an Erie Canal type barge about 45 feet by 12 feet. I can build it of fiberglass, I have all the equipment. I have to finish two other vessel's first, then study this further. Thank you for showing a Widebeam.

I would definitely live in this...but the mooring charges worry me because I feel they are a rent in themselves. I know they can move but I also know that you are limited to the canals with this width of boat. Anyway it was lovely and I would not be roughing it living aboard this...

Funny about that stupid pop up tv. I mean its cool but funny because you could just have a mechanism to manually lift it up it a fraction of the time you have to hold your finger on the button, silly people.

Beautiful design and great engineering, but diesel should be a banned substance from the waterways of our networks before toxic gatherings and dead zones amassing upon the shorelines rid us completely of all fish life we had ever known.

p.s. the maintenance of golf courses is the worst for this of course, but boating can at least try to make amends

The rules on claiming VAT back on a residential boat are not simple at all - and looking at this boat I'm not sure it would even qualify. The boat has to comply with several HMRC rules pertaining to displacement which can be calculated from its dimensions but in general the gunwale height on narrowboat-style widebeams means that they don't comply. It's really not as easy as this guy is saying.
