Having a life and hobbies outside the military or any profession for that matter is so important for all of us. I believe we need to work on our lives and what we truly want just as hard as we work for others. Don't take yourself too seriously and just enjoy life.

Solid advise. I've met too many ex gi-joes who are now fat and sad due to loss of purpose. You can still train the same skillset as a civilian if you are willing to invest in your own equipment.

Great advise by the way. Do you think enlistment is predatory towards at risk/lower income youth? Historically that is the demographic for military men, but it’s my perception a lot of people join for the promise of free education or join to get away from an abusive household. I’m talking the 17-19 yo recruits. God bless them for serving and I only wish to make their lives better

As a young bright man with my future ahead of me why should I join the military? The way the country has been run the past 10 years it makes me seriously question who is being served. Do I want to put my life on the line for the 1%? No. I’m in the position of almost being done with 4 year university and I have considered OCS. I love my fellow Americans and humans but my reservations stand in the military being used for political gain and/or profiteering
