It's debatable. The manga said that both KO'ed each other but erza did fall unconscious first followed by laxus. If they were enemies and laxus had a weapon, he could've harmed her. He was out of magic power, not physical strength.

Nah it's dropped to just a high diff fight. after his fight with kirin, he now has lightning king mode which he can add red lightning onto making it a larger gap from the last time they fought

If you think about it, I think Erza has all the potential to be one of the most powerful in the entire verse but they kinda nerfing her. First, the very first power she unlocked as a kid is Telekinesis which they didn't even showcase that much except her controlling her swords sometimes, we know how powerful Telekinesis can be if you master it, it is kinda a waste that they didn't utilize it that much. Second, she uses different sets of armor and weaponry that have different attributes for example she could have use the Nakagami Armor to fight Laxus which can nullify all types of magic in short, an anti-magic weapon but she didn't. Lastly, she showcased that she is at least a High Enchanter mage by imbuing her sword with magic power from Natsu and Gray, so that means she has the capability to use/learn separation enchantment and separate Laxus magic from him, just like what Wendy did to the Dragon slayer she fought. I think Mirajane also has the capability, but she lacks stamina, and the stronger the Demon she uses the shorter the duration is.
