How medal event is judged:
1 heat of 8 athletes participating in a 20 minute jam session, taking as many runs within the time frame. Best run counts, with the best run ranked 1-8. Judges will rank competitors throughout the contest.

BMX Park is a style of freestyle bike riding featuring a variety of obstacles such as ramps, bowls, quarter pipes, and ledges arranged in a challenging and creative layout. Riders use these obstacles to perform a variety of tricks, jumps, and grinds, incorporating a majority or all features into a single run. The athletes will complete as many runs as possible within the jam session, with their best run score counting towards final ranking. Competitors will be judged based on aggressive execution of maneuvers, degree of difficulty, variety, continuity of run, originality and style, amplitude (height of airs) and use of the course.

What an amazing competition. It was nonstop tricks that I didn't even think were possible. Crazy to think that the BMX scene is still progressing, while Ryan WIlliams constantly bringing in new tricks (not so much this time), and Kevin Peraza bringing in so much style.

Probably the most awesome best trick event that I've ever seen! I love how all of these guys push each other to the limits and are so stoked when their opponents land tricks and they're genuinely worried about the other opponents when they get injured. BMX has been a revolutionary extreme sport. I'm at Daniel's Sandoval years ago when he was learning front flips and he was one of the nicest people even when he was a kid. I think it was Corona skatepark or Upland in California if I remember right! If RW would have landed the double backflip fakie to cap off the event....
