WoW mine with the Pierburg 2E2 when i cold start stays on 2500rpm and drops down very slowly as the coolant warms Up. I thought It was normal, but now i noticed its not. Nice vid

What is the estimated consumption on this carbureator?

My mates mk2 Polo must have had a similar carb to this. That had an auto choke too.

How does the Waxstat choke work? Is it something to do with the water temperature?

How different is the Pierburg 2E compared to the 2E2? There seems to be a few things my 1.8 GL is missing such as the vacuum reservoir and the device on the front of the carb that adjusts the choke setting.

My automatic choke doesn't kick in at all. I have to sit with my foot on the accelerator for a while to get the engine warmed up otherwise it'll stall. How does the choke know when to kick in exactly? I have a connection on the left rear of the carb that has corroded badly, could that be the issue?

Also, what would make my engine jutter and not run smoothly? The revs don't sit still and when i'm driving around in low revs, I can feel the car jumping until I hit 2000rpm. Is this a timing issue or something else?

Thanks for the help and the videos!

Nice job, but on Pierburg's part it seems a poor design - and unnecessary - to immediately rev a cold engine to 2, 500RPM. My '92 MB '230E starts and revs to +-1, 000, then almost immediately drops to a normal idling speed.

I really like VW's. One of the most reliable cars. If I had the money, and licence I would buy either a SAAB or VW golf
