In this video I discuss CISSP Misconceptions:

1) My story and why I took it after 20 years in tech and passed first try in 6 weeks
2) Did it help my career
3) Misconceptions for non-technical people around the exam - entry level job descriptions and think you are hacker (I've never been a threat hunter, pentesting type, its not necessary for this exam)
4) Align you career expectations to the exam and what you want to do
5) This exam is not a beginners exam

You can take the exam without any experience, you’ll just be known as an ISC associate until you complete the experience requirement.

I’m abit baffled, I see a lot of entry level roles requiring CISSP, am I missing something, i’ve so far done, CCNA SEC+ eJPT CEHv12 and unfortunately it’s tough to even get into a soc analyst role at level 1 junior asking for CISSP, I’m baffled 😢

It seems like a pain in the butt to maintain the certification.

Other than the 5 years experience it seems like fluff. A Masters Degree in cyber security? CCNP + Kali Linux+ Wireshark + Metasploit + Nessus + Burp Suite + Networking across various brands and devices and being able to modify code in several languages. Then go find a zero day.

I think it is waste of time since it provides zero value, if you pass you don't get job, if you fail you don't get a job + lose your money. Invest money where you learn something, certification is just a badge. Knowledge is real wealth.

Wrong. Most< ENTRY LEVEL POSITIONS want CISSP. I'm looking for a job right now.
