Romans 5:9: Justification now, salvation later

Показать описание
The apostle Paul shows justification and salvation are different things, at different times. While we remain in justification, now, we have assurance we shall be saved —in the future.
■ "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." (Paul, in Romans 5:9)
This is consistent with Paul in another letter, writing we have “the hope of salvation” and are “appointed . . . to obtain salvation”:
■ "But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ" (Paul, in 1 Thessalonians 5:8,9)
And it’s consistent with Peter, saying “we believe . . . we shall be saved” —in the future:
■ "But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they."
The idea that we are *_already_* saved —done deal— is error. We must remain in justification and endure to the end, as Jesus said (Matthew 10:22). This is the "narrow way" that Jesus spoke of (Matthew 7:13,14). We’ll be saved —from ever perishing in death— when we actually receive the gift of eternal life at Jesus’ return (1 Corinthians 15:50-54; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; 1 Peter 1:13). Short of receiving the gift of eternal life, we'll perish: 100% unsaved.
