Was communicating with a Finnish water engineer who worked in China off and on. He was saying exactly what you said.
manufactures were pumping pollution down into underground streams to get rid of it. He said it will become a complete disaster for them. China's expansion happened so quick they just did not take note of what they were doing, or did not care.

I often see students in my school blasting the water when washing their hands. First time i tell them to turn down the water pressure and wash with a small stream from the faucet...if i see it again by the same student, i usually get a tad upset. :P Schools in China need to teach this to the new generation of kids. Conserving water needs to be happening now. You do see bathrooms etc with conserve water messages about not wasting water. It's sad to travel to remote parts of china in the mountains and see little to no water in areas that used to have rivers or streams.

Chinese dams along the Mekong River hold a massive amount of water in their reservoirs, but Beijing might need to be paid to release it for downstream nations suffering from drought, a panel of experts said Tuesday.

More than 70 million people from five Southeast Asian countries depend on the mighty Mekong for their livelihoods, primarily through fishing and agriculture. But China operates 129 dams upstream, including 11 mega-dams, and has at least another seven in the pipeline. Just two Chinese dams on the Mekong hold about 20 percent of the water held back during the wet season to produce hydroelectricity during the dry months.

Alan Basist, a climatologist and co-leader of the Mekong Dam Monitor, said the insurance industry could collect money from lower basin countries and use those funds to offset China's financial hit from lost electricity sales if it were to release more water. As Mekong flow ebbs, experts suggest paying China to release water.

China is also beginning to dam the headwaters of the Brahmaputra River, which is a growing source of tension with India.
Then again, the Colorado River is dammed up before it reaches Mexico.

Good on you for discussing 'burning' topics. As for China running out of clean water, no worries! In Australia's arid zone, Chinese-backed Fortune Agribusiness (Tommy Jiang, etc.), was granted the largest groundwater licence EVER, some 40, 000 Mega Liters per year (!!!) to grow grapes, etc. on Singleton Station, Northern Territory ... Traditional owners, the Aboriginal Peoples who lived on this DRY land for over 70, 000 years, have now had to launch a legal challenge to protect this unique dry-land fauna & flora. Good Luck to them! - Both the NT Govt & the local High Court previously approved depleting groundwater from this semi-desert zone of 294, 000 hectares without prior hydrogeologic surveys being undertaken ...

Lei, I love your very accurate news reports . Please report on China and the Ukraine / Russia war. What is China planning to do ? Will it try to aid Russia ? Will it risk becoming a larger target of the wrath of the world?

Did our Putin hugger do as much "research" on this topic as on the Ukraine conflict. Your are surely productive and diligent to cover all those topics on your own.

You've really got to watch your audio levels during the vlog, it often changes for one subject section to another. This likely happening in your editing process and you aren't paying attention, instead concentrating on the video only. You need to Watch BOTH to present the best programming. As always, your content is first class and you are likely the best source of Commie China news.

Seems similar to the pollution issues in Europe once the industrial revolution hit its peak. It took until the mid to late 20th century for the water quality to improve, the Thames for instance finally had salmon again in the late 70s’. Not necessarily a good enough excuse but pertinent to the mindset of a country undergoing its own industrial revolution.
