The English Garden is located in the north-east of Munich on the west bank of the Isar. With its 375-hectare green space, it is one of the largest parks in the world. The name English Garden was taken from the English landscape gardens that Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell used as a model when designing the site.

The Munich English Garden is one of the first large continental European parks that anyone could enter. As one of the largest inner-city parks in the world, the English Garden is very popular with both Munich residents and tourists, with around 5 million visitors every year.
