Like Saiyan Scholar said, even if Goku inherited her kindness, it was his upbringing with Gohan that he stays kind and caring for others. Someone who is kind can be a bad person if their experience basically broke their belief to be kind.

I greatly prefer the idea that Goku became kind due to his mother over the idea he just had his Saiyan programming erased by a head injury.

It can be a mixture of the two, and Gohan was the one to raise him, so he had a lot to do with Goku's personality obviously. But, Gine is such a good addition, that it really is a shame she and Goku never get to meet.

I love the addition of Gine and her personality. Rather than goku just magically becoming a nice guy from hitting his head, it’s more like it refreshed the order of things and made his Gine side shine through more lol. Especially since being raised by Grandpa gohan helped to foster that side

Goku's nature could've always been a kind person, just a little rowdy. Many people think w/o hitting his head he would be evil, when all grandpa gohan said was that Goku was a rowdy kid, not malicious or evil.

Then add on Grandpa Gohan's kind nurturing and you'd ofc get a pure hearted individual.

I definitely enjoyed the history between Bardock and Gine, the positive influence that Gine had on Bardock, and the possibility that Goku's inherent goodness may have partially come from Gine herself.
