Today is Captain Fantastic and the brown dirt cowboy. Elton john. Underrated album. Great stuff on here. The title track, tower of babel, bitter fingers, meal ticket, ect. One of my fav 70s Elton albums. And, great album cover

The Pink Floyd - 'Wish You Were Here'
The way 'Shine on...' stretches out to Infinity is sublime.
The haunting and plantive 'Welcome to the Machine'.
Rogers stark commentary on the "business" with 'Have a Cigar'.
And the elegant personal beauty of 'Wish You Were Here'.
10/10, 5☆ all the way.

Today my pick #30 is Ted Nugent self titled debut. Favorite songs on the album are Stranglehold, StormTroopin, and MotorCity Madhouse. All three songs great in the studio but the definitive version are on the live album double live gonzo.

31- BTO Head on

Bad Co. Straight Shooter
No sophomore slump with these guys! Four staples on classic rock radio. Songs that brought the ladies to the table.
Feel Like Making Love and Shooting Star two spectacular power ballads. Remember folks, Paul Rogers is not in the Rock and roll Hall of Shame!

Lynyrd Skynyrd – Nuthin’ Fancy (#14)

Aptly titled 3rd studio album. A collection of rootsy faire with lots of country tinges. I played this one quite a bit last summer, capped off by seeing the Artimus Pyle Band live in New Buffalo, Michigan. Not surprising, Saturday Night Special, Whiskey Rock-a-Roller, and On the Hunt (my album favorite) were all played that night. Great show, great memory.

My Day 2 Pick:

Nazareth - Hair of the Dog

I admit that I've not really gotten into anything from their other albums, but this is a phenomenal album from the title track to the introspective closer "Please Don't Judas Me." Of course, the ballad "Love Hurts" and the bluesy "Whiskey Drinking Woman" were also singles. My absolute favorite on here, however, is "Miss Misery."

My choice today is 'Katy Lied' by Steely Dan. Something of a mystery to me why this album is always rather overlooked in their discography. It's a pearl of a record, featuring as it does unimprovable tunes like 'Rose Darling', 'Daddy Don't Live in that New York City No More', 'Chain Lightning' and 'Throw Back the Little Ones'.

Young Americans -David Bowie. He's evolved into his plastic soul period here with title track and Fame being the hits. And here's 3 not from the studio: Alive! -Kiss Live! -Bob Marley & the Wailers Agartha -Miles Davis. All 3 crackle with intensity and imho are stellar.

Pick #30: Steve Hackett's Voyage of the Acolyte by Steve Hackett. For whichever reason, I never get super deep into most band member's solo works, but after enough people on SoT discussed it I became curious and gave Voyage of the Acolyte a proper chance, and I was pretty impressed with it.

#31: Bad Company's Straight Shooter
#30: Steve Hackett's Voyage of the Acolyte

30. Alice Cooper - Welcome To My Nightmare
I'd seen Alice Cooper live a few times, but always as a support act for the likes of Iron Maiden and Motley Crue. I like how he'd charmingly stuck to his old school special effects with the beheading routine and such, rather than going all high tech and fancy. While his entire catalog is interesting, I was mostly a fan of Love it to Death and Killer (1971). However, his first solo album is where all the elements of his particular brand of horror theater came together, better than on the showtune approach on School's Out (1972). KISS had blown up that year, taking his stagecraft, drenching it in blood and fire and turning it up to 11, but as far as studio albums and just really fun songwriting, Alice Cooper remained the master here.

My pick for day 2:
Steely Dan - Katy Lied. My favourite album by my favourite band. Never get tired of hearing it. Not a bad track, not a note out of place. Just accessible enough for a newcomer to the band (which I was when I first bought this) to get into easily, before the slightly more complex jazz arrangements of the later albums.

Doctor Wu is a great little pop song but so is Bad Sneakers & Rose Darling. And there is always a little bit of world weariness and wit in the lyrics too.

My pick today: Aerosmith Toys In The Attic. A staple in Rock along with Rocks. Two of the best albums Steven, Joe & Company ever put out.🎸🎸
