How To Confuse Your Opponent For Boxing | Keep Them Guessing
Показать описание
What's up guys! In this video I go over 3 things you can do to confuse your opponent or sparring partner. The whole point of confusing your opponent is to keep them guessing. The more your opponent is thinking the higher the chances you have of landing a powerful punch.
Boxing is a chess match. A dangerous chess match. If you have your opponent worried about what's coming next you are already one step ahead of them and that can be the difference between a long or early night.
The 3 things you can do to confuse your opponent are:
1) Throw multiple punches from the same side, meaning-- Double or Triple Jab/hook/uppercut/cross. Traditional boxing teaches you how to be balanced and throw with power behind each shot. All boxers know this and they have this engrained in their mind. Unconsciously the boxer's body expects and predicts certain punches in order to defend. Throwing multiple punches from the same side disrupts the body's instinct and confuses your opponent.
2) Use feints! In boxing, a feint a pretending to throw a punch but not really throwing it. The objective of a feint is to get a reaction from your opponent what you do after is up to you. My favorite feints are jabs because they are quick and annoying. Throw two solid jabs and the third one feint and come over the top with an overhand cross.
3) Change the tempo of your punches. Tempo in boxing is the speed at which you are throwing your punches. If you only have one speed you may be easily figured out. If you can change speed and power in between combinations you become an even greater threat. Not everything you throw has to be hard or fast. Throwing soft or slow punches can work to your benefit by making your opponent think you are not a threat and best case scenario they disregard defending certain punches. If they do take advantage and step in with a hard powerful punch!
