Very simple homemade router table for small projects

With this simple router table anyone can do quality woodwork at home. The Makita RT0700C router is the one used in the video, but the same concept can be used with just any kind of wood router.

Absolutely perfect design for me. Fed up with other ideas using a lot of fiddly bits and having lots of room to use it. I’m a hobbyist crammed in a small garage with little room for storage. This idea is first class.

Just in case anyone is wondering, the Makita base plate comes with #10 - 24tpi - 3/8" screws. I'll be using 1/2" ply for my router table and therefore will need 7/8" screws. Great video!

Thanks for this. I viewed a few router table videos, and while there were some nice ones there—with bells and whistles, torsion box construction, precision jointing, well-equipped workshop required, etc, etc—when I saw this one with its simple construction and swinging fence, I looked no further. I just added a bolt and thumbscrew at the free end of the fence, the bolt swinging though a short closed arc cut into the base board, to let me easily lock the fence in place. And after my router dropped to the floor when I was setting it up for the first test, I added an anchor in the form of a soft coil spring with a quick-release clip at ether end, that I had in my junk box. It was either that, or go to IKEA and buy a nice cushion for the floor ;-)
