Depending on the game, smaller hit box is indeed a thing.

Any PVP game I took playing seriously, I played the smallest, skinniest character possible. Just on the off chance size did matter.

In games I didn't take the PVP seriously, I ran around in the biggest, fattest character skin I could and would go by the name "Cupcake". Those were the days when didn't care what your PVP stats looked like.
