reminder: blue/purple shampoo isn't a permanent fix. it's super temporary, and for full effectiveness, needs to be used consistently. so pls don't get mad at the shampoo brands for "false advertisement" chances are, it's just user error 😭

While pigmented shampoo or conditioner is meant to be rinsed out, neither is going to be as effective if you immediately wash your hair again with another shampoo. Blue/violet shampoos work by depositing a small amount of colour which then acts as an optical whitener to cancel out yellow and orange tones in your hair. By using a regular shampoo after the blue shampoo, you're stripping the small amount of colour that you just deposited! The optical effect of the blue/violet colour can't work if you've washed it out.

P.S. 'Light Blue Shade' is the best brand of blue/violet shampoos and conditioners. They're effective, inexpensive, and have a pleasant, not-overpowering scent. You can find it in Canada.

That's a really mild blue shampoo. Try the same thing with Fanola no orange shampoo (amazon) and you will get much better results.

Be careful with blue/purple shampoo. If your hair is damaged more in certain areas, the tone will be uneven. Or if you have blonde highlights it can leave the highlights blue.

Source: I did this on my own hair and parts of it ended up silver and the rest blue.

In my blonde days, I laid it on thick in my dry hair and left it in for hours. Worked like a charm 😌 though I don't do it anymore because I'm tryna grow out my natural hair

For your hair, you could probably even leave it on a little bit longer and it will tone more just be careful doing that if you’re super blonde. this was my go to indigo mask, for years. you can get the leaving mask that way it conditions and tones.

As these are meant to be used daily at most, they have very little actual colorant/pigment that sticks to hair. That’s why it only changes the hair a little

Ty for testing this! I have a blue shampoo but I'm worried to use it but this shows me it's safe! 🙂

I always recommend that blue shampoo for brassy hair! Tho it’s not blue, it’s kinda like a indigo. And be careful on what the bottle says! There are blue shampoos that are blueee bluee and that’s meant for brunette hair. Otherwise it would turn your hair green :0 !!
