There’s a news story of a cop actually arresting a man for stealing wifi from someplace. The cop would stop there regularly to get coffee and he often saw the man drive up and park, but not go inside. So one day the cop asked him what he was doing and the man said he was using the wifi like he always did, so the cop arrested him. Too bad for that man he didn’t watch Law by Mike to know never admit anything to the police. 😂

If the establishment has a sign for free wifi, you need not make a purchase.

Most likely disclaimers when you connect saying otherwise aren't enforceable because the place can't prove you read and understand it.

Contracts must be understood to be enforced.

The WiFi one is particularly insidious since both iOS and Android default to automatically connecting to some open WiFi networks like those at Starbucks and McDonald's; both of which clearly state in the TOS that you can only use it if you have purchased something.
