Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-New York), the Democratic minority leader in the U.S. Senate, questions whether Republicans are trying to rush president-elect Donald Trump's nominees through the confirmation process.

Specifically, Schumer said a confirmation hearing for Doug Burgum to be Secretary of the Interior has been scheduled even though Democrats haven't received information from the nominee.

Burgum, a former governor of North Dakota, is set to go before the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources on the morning of January 14, 2025. He has received favorable comments from tribes in his home state.

Schumer spoke on the floor of the Senate on January 8, 2025.
