Rancher Desktop is a new solution from Rancher that allows spinning up a quick and easy Kubernetes cluster on your local workstation and includes really great features such as:

- Uses containerd
- Allows choosing the Kubernetes version to install
- Is lightweight, simple to install

In this video walkthrough, we will take a quick overview of Rancher Desktop v1.0.0 beta and see how easy it is to get up and running with Kubernetes on your desktop. The GA release of Rancher Desktop v1.0 is imminent and will no doubt include additional features and capabilities from Rancher.

This is very cool, although it is still very minimalistic. I mean from the practical standpoint, I can already play with kubernetes locally using Docker Desktop(which already supports kubernetes). I am curios how this project will evolve. I would like to see more options on managing the cluster, editing yaml files etc, similar on what we do on regular rancher on unix. Thanks for the video.

Hello Really nice and simple video. I am using Docker Desktop and am really new to this. If I had the choice I would continue using Docker as I know nothing about Kubernetes. Please anyone has a resource on how to integrate Rancher Desktop with the Spring boot web application please share it here.
Thanks!

is not a replacement for of k9s? Doesn't it allow you to control containers on the cloud but only those locally on the machine?

This is an explanation for advancer users... It is not clear enough what kind of "runtime container" is being used and how rancher desktop is integrated in windows with wsdl2. So guys if you are looking for a detailed and beginner explanation this is not the video you want to watch.
