& was also introduced at the Chicago worlds fair in 1893.

Actually sailors and port workers that needed a snack to go, would get 2 slices of bread with a hamburger steak in the middle. So I am not sure where to draw the line.

The Hamburger is actually from Hamburg. People working in the harbors of Hamburg needed a way to hold on to their „Buletten“. (wich is essentially the original patty) That’s when they started putting it between two pieces of bread. From improvising a fast and portable meal to one of the most popular dishes in the world. 💪🏼

The Hamburger as we know it between 2 pieces of bread originated in the city of Hamburg, Germany hence the name.
