Thanks, well explained ... several queries, what is critical Temparature ... what iis relevance of 723 Deg Celsius? What is the soaking time for hardening ? What is rate of cooling in Normalising ? Rate of cooling in quenching ? .. What are tempoartures for carburising ? Post carburising any hardening process is needed or carburising is enough ?

I am a bit confused because I saw a few videos on this subject and they said that hardening a metal will make it more brittle like on a knife it will pretty much shatter if there is enough force. You explained that hardening a metal improves its elasticity which is contrary to what brittle is. Was this just a mistake in the video or have I been taught the wrong things?
