The battle of poltava is showed in a very wrong way in this film, when the swedes arrived they were exhausted, low on food and ammo after figthing and winning battle after battle. Gustav XII was crazy, not letting his troops halt until they get defeated.

First off, it was Carl XII, not Gustav. Secondly, he got injured before the battle and left command to General Carl Gustaf Rehnskiöld and General Adam Ludwig Lewenhaupt. The Russiand outnumbered the Swedes around 3:1 an had way more artillery. The battle was actually very close, and it was due to several misinterpretations of orders, the lack of the king's expertise and the Russian Scorched Earth tactic that left the Caroleans marching for miles without food, that the Swedes got so mauled.
