This is Palestinian dancer, choreographer, performer, creator, and dance instructor Rima Baransi (Arabic: ريما برانسي) dancing to a performance by violinist Ivo Remenec in Trieste, Italy. Her father Assad Baransi (Arabic: الأسد برانسي) recorded this video while he and her sister Leen (Arabic: لين برانسي) encouraged her to dance. They were visiting the town as tourists.

June 20, 2016: After a couple of days of work, searching and emailing, I have discovered who the violinist is.

Ivo Remenec is a member of the "Adventure Strings" string quartet:

English translation of what is said:

Father (Assad Baransi): C'mon Rima! C'mon! Here I am filming, c'mon Rima for God's sake! For my sake! For my sake! C'mon start! [Do it!], C'mon Daddy! (here it's normal for Dads to call their child "Dad", and Moms to call them "Mom").

By doing this and then sharing my fixed version of the video in a few key social media sites I also hoped to help this awesome and magical performance be seen by more people.

Note: I have now added dozens of subtitle captions in many languages to help better understand what Rima's father says to her.

I loved the way the violnist and the dancer bowed their heads to each other.. Just two artists acknowledging the beauty of the others art.

I love how she hesitates at first, then for a moment thinks about it and then boom! she goes for it!
good luck to both artists cause that was a great minute and a half! thanks!

Love the fact that her dad kept on encouraging her to do it at the beginning. Not many Arabian fathers encourage their daughters to dance (Y)

I've seen this at least 100 times. I cry every time.
This is, to me, no joke, the most beautiful piece of art, any kind of art, any modem, I have ever seen.
There is something so pure about the connection of a musician and a dancer when they are performing live. Making music and dancing were probably the earliest art forms and therefore our most instinctual. But strangers, connecting like this, building art spontaneously together.
I will cry every time

That violin rendition is the best i heard so far.
You could feel the emotion through the music and her dancing.

An applause also goes out to that father for putting his daughter in ballet lessons & encouraging her to go out there in public & dance it!! He knows his daughter, he knows that's a song she loves & dancing to.. he told her to dance it.. she hesitated & said no.. he finally said "do it!" And her body just let it out.. we all saw her passion & love into her dancing... then when it was over the dad yelled "Woa!" As everyone clapped. He proudly recorded his daughter dancing ❤️

I can't find that comment now, but someone wrote: We all sometimes need somebody to tell us "yalla yalla, do it!"

Sometimes stars align for a brief moment. This one of them. Violinist, song, location, dancer, dress, wind, someone who wants you to shine... check check check

I've watched this over and over for years and it's one of the most powerful clips I've seen. I love Yann Tiersen and this song is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever created. First time I heard it I wrote down on a note that I want this song played at my funeral.

This video is to me the definition of art. That is because art is a living thing. There is art in the beautiful streets of Italy. There is art in the spontaneity. There is art in the sadness and tenderness that is flowing from the musician and from the dancer. Art is in the fragility and passion coming from the dancer. There is art in the father urging his daughter to soar. Art is in the onlookers clapping in the end. Art is what binds the events in this video into a beautiful story. And finally, art is what makes me feel so much while watching this. This video just makes my heart overflow with joy, with passion and a sort of pleasant melancholy, all at the same time. Art truly is a cornerstone upon which humanity rests.

This video make me cry every time. Having a dad who support you and believe in you, even when you doubt yourself should feel fantastic.
