I agree with you both! A cluttered space gives me cluttered brain. And once things are tidy, it does feel like you’ve been holding your breath for such a long time and can finally exhale. These are valuable lessons we teach our children. It’s easier to take a bit and tidy up, but overwhelming to let it go for “just one more day”.

One good rule of thumb that i like to follow is the "one-in-one-out". And I do that for everything in the house. I have however much I need, and some things I just buy once they're either worn out or empty, and if I buy one thing, another has to go. Like that it never gets cluttered and everything always has a place

I get the sense some people were never 'confronted' in a space where they feel open to acknowledge and change. It's later in life for many when they have never been challenged on their behavior when someone yells at them, they get defensive and only crawl deeper into "I can do what I want because everyone's so mean to me."
