These guys are trying to make $18 an hour sound good. What they don’t tell you is yeah they may pay you at $18 an hour but with the little to no hours that they’ll most likely give you because you’ll be a part time or even an on call that $18 an hour is a joke.

Wow, thousands of jobs that pay $18/hour! That's what I would have said in 2012.

$18/hr in 2022 is like $15/hr in 2019 so im not sure how that's a positive thing.

reporter laughs @2:03 when he says, ''dress your best''. 18 an hour, it would be flip-flops and shorts.

$2, 880 is not enough monthly income to afford even the smallest apartment here when they require triple income of the amount in rent they charge.

and they tell you after 3 months that is a promotional payrate and they'll drop your shit to 12

I was making 15 an hour and still didn't make enough to be able to afford a 2 bedroom apartment out here. Most places want you to have a provable income of 3 times the rent and when rent for a standard 2 bedroom apartment is around 1600 a month, 15 an hour just didn't cut it. It's sad how bad it's getting out here. Prices are getting worse than California. More and more people are losing their homes and being forced to stay with family, go to a shelter or move out of state all together. My man and I make good money together. I make 13 an hour now but he makes around 4 grand a month, sometimes more. Even with that being said, we have 4 kids and need a 3 to 4 bedroom to make shit work at the very least. With an average price of around 2000 a month for just a 3 bedroom, WE DONT EVEN MAKE ENOUGH TO BE APPROVED FOR MOST PLACES. Also the fact that I'm a felon makes it even harder for us to get accepted anywhere. This is my home. This is where I grew up and I love it here but I'm sad to say that we may end up having no real choice other than to leave the state here soon if we ever want our own home again.

BUT they’ll work your 🍑 off for about 3 months or so and then you’ll be on call and if you say “no” they’ll say you refused to work even if you have doctors appointment or school. Oh and some places “sell” $18/hr to get you to sign and then they say “oh well we can’t pay that so it’ll be 15/hr.” And if they can push you to work for another department they’ll sell that too to make it seem like they’ll raise your pay really fast but they won’t. My annual raise is coming up and I haven’t been “certified” at a department they told me would give me my raise quicker than waiting the year. I’ll get my yearly raise BEFORE I even get “certified”.
