Thanks for posting this famous Italian recipe of the 90's. It looks delicious. This is one of my favorites. Btw, the original recipe adds pancetta (or bacon if you don't have it) to this recipe. It adds a nice flavor to the sauce. The pancetta would be the first ingredient you sauté.

Is vodka really needed, I make a recipe and have always been using vodka but recently I tried it without and it tastes the same.

Instead of needing to mash tomatoes with your spatula, just use crushed tomatoes.

respectable...she is using CENTO... They may not have MUTTI in Idaho, ... but Cento is a great alternative.
