So if you multiply all that without the i does it always work out (but with the wrong sign)?

Multiplying the terms inside the radical: -12 * -3 =36, a perfect square giving you 6 times the outside terms (2 * -4) =-48

Helped me a bunch, somehow missed the fact until now that you have to multiply the i's with eachothers aswell, so i was just stuck with a bunch of i's that weren't supposed to be there.

That fact that we have to learn this and then never use it when we get out of school. “Imaginary numbers” that sounds dumb af and yet they never teach you how to file taxes or anything actually useful.. 🤦
