One of the many things that I love about the peepers is that they are very shy. Their peeping will come to a *complete* halt if they hear a single footstep. After that it's a total joy to hear them start up again over the next couple of minutes: first one or two and then a few more and then the exponential chorus. When we were kids we used to go the Great Swamp outside of Morristown, NJ in the evening and it was a challenge to remain as still as possible to hear them go silent and startup again.

I have heard this little guys my whole life, my house, my grandmas house, the cabin, the barn everywhere. My mom never loved them but I always did. Me and my grandma would sit outside for hours talking and listening to them. Me and my horse would sit in the field and listen to them, I would tell my horse about everything while he munched on the fresh grass. I would hear them all day at the cabin, by the fire with the crackling of embers and the peepers calling out, sitting by the lake or on the porch, or at night, snuggled up in my cozy cot, the cool summer air flooding in from a cracked window, the breeze blowing occasionally. There they were, the tree frogs loud and clear. They are my whole world

The middle school in our town has a reclaimed wetland area that was a project done by the students about ten years ago, and every spring now is heralded by the arrival of the red-winged blackbirds, a mallard family, and the spring peepers there. We live half a mile away from the school complex (elementary, middle and high schools are clustered together) and you can hear them from our house if the traffic is quiet enough. Unreal!

We get these every spring, starting at the end of Feb in the marsh down the road, when the wind is right, you can hear them several blocks down. My gods, they're gorgeous to listen to.

I have had one for about 8 months or so. I use to have to for e feed him pieces of crickets I bought from Walmart. I found a very small bug on my wall and pulled the frog out onto a notepad and placed the small bug on it and the frog tongued it up. I was so proud he finally ate on his own. Because my work schedule changed I was able to go to the local pet store and get baby crickets. I put him in with a bunch of the tiny crickets and cooked myself some food, almost forgot about him. When I took him out I noticed his belly full. So, I don’t really have to for e feed him anymore, he eats on his own.

He also chirps sometimes. One time I left him in front of the window and the sun was beating on his cage, so it was too bright for him. He was chirping like he was mad. So I moved his container. He will chirp if he wants something, like his water is low, or not fresh, or if he runs out of crickets, or if a cricket is too big and is bothering him. He chirped at me while I was watching a show on Netflix, because it was probably too loud. And if I chirp at him, he sometimes chirps back, almost to copy me, lol. He has developed a slight personality for being a small frog.

I would have let him go where I found him, but his home was recently bulldozed. He use to live near my mom, and out in the woods by a pond they’d peep a lot. Now, since the pond is said to be filled in, they don’t peep. My worse fear is that they might have all been buried in that location.

The local wildlife refuge may take him to help educate young folk and the community about conservation. I’d rather he be released into the wild, to be free again.

Use to have them in my parents backyard. I loved listening to them while I went to sleep.

I will never forget..my little brother collected some in a bucket he put some random little bugs and grass and branches etc in..and decided the best place to stash it (because he wasn't allowed to bring his "creepys' inside) was the empty DRYER in our breezeway...and it was evening and we're upstairs getting ready for bed and our mom screams and everyone comes scrambling downstairs and she is wide eyed "WHAT IS THAT SOUND!?!"- and we hear the LOUDEST peeps...as the dryer acted as a huge echo chamber
.I immediately knew what it was, and lol at my brother trying 1st to pretend she imagined it..before guiltily moping his way to the dryer and taking out the bucket
. mom was like "WHAT is that?"
and my brother says "Its a peeper...sorry I accidentally put it in there." 🐸🐸🐸 they were so small but goodness were they Loud

Just heard some tonight in Indianapolis and it surprised me! It is a place I have driven by every day for nearly 11 years and never once heard them in this spot.

I hear these guys a lot when I leave my Campus. First time I heard them was a little farther up my school they were in hiding near urban brush just peeping away. Last night walking back home from the campus a whole bunch of them were peeping. Recently it had rained so there was a massess of water, great little habitat for them too. I managed to record them from a walking distance with no problem ( really loud little guys they are). In my area Peepers usually come out around 9pm to 10pm as I documented and there aren't too many predators around so it's like safe haven lol.

Recently moved to Delaware and this is all I hear day and night. Coming from the woods. Mostly at night though. It keeps me up.
