The Voynich Manuscript seems to have been an Astrology Alchemy Encyclopedia or guide, written in made up letters using the astrology symbols. The plants and confusing imagery has to do with Alchemy. The star charts, sun is for Astrology, and has the same sun symbol. I am sure it has a meaning, but I believe it was drawn according to the artist interpretation of astrology and its link to alchemy. You have to remember he or she was an artist, not just someone who wanted to make a written guide. So the artistic license is really strong here. We might never know the true meaning unless we asked the artist ourselves.
