In the battle for Chattanooga, a young, 18 year old, union flag bearer, won the Medal of Honor, by leading troops up a Confederate held hill. His battle call, to inspire the men behind him, was "ON WISCONSIN", (a phase still used today in that state!) HIs name was Arthur McArthur. (Note: He stayed in the Army and eventually became a General. He was the father of a another famous American General in WWII, who ALSO received the Medal of Honor, Douglas McArthur)

I grew up traveling over Missionary Ridge to downtown Chattanooga.
Didn’t like Rossville Blvd and freeway traffic.
Lived closer to Chickamauga Battlefield.
We found muzzle loader ammo by the jar full.

My last house was not far from Chattanooga, I had cannon dugouts on my mountain and all the civil war relics you could possibly imagine.

The fall of Chattanooga lead directly to the Sherman March and burning of Atlanta.
