Reminds me of a spinning thing. Like you could place an axle in the center for some reason.

Maybe attach some balls or things at rope ends and have it spin. What would that be used for..?

I've been googling variations of 'square knot' for ages and now finally by finding this video I know how to knot THIS knot which I've been wanting to know how to knot for quite a while. I appears that a japanese square knot and a 'regular' square knot are not the same thing.

Cool! We tied these in bolo ties at Girl Scout camp and called them Friendship Knots. Girl Guides still tie these in one another's scarves. I never knew what the knot was called officially.
